AMPZ are a utility dao coin created on the Deso blockchain and are used on Zirkels to help writers promote their content in a healthy way. AMPZ are stored in your Deso wallet and can be transferred to any user you wish at any time.

On Zirkels, AMPZ can be used to help boost your content in the scoring algorithm. In your user dashboard, next to each article’s Status is a lightening bolt button that allows you to use your AMPZ to boost a piece of content.

The purpose of boosting articles with AMPZ is to allow writers to kickstart their articles to get more eyes and attention on their content.

How do AMPZ work?

First of all, when you boost an article on Zirkels you cannot just send the score sky-high. There is a limit and it doesn’t matter if you’re a billionaire, or not, you can’t boost your article any higher.

Right now this limit is set at 2000 points, but we may decide to modify it in the future as we watch how the article scoring algorithm performs.

This means that when you click on the lightening bolt button the slider will not go any higher than the number of AMPZ required to hit the current 2000 points level. (It also won’t go any higher than the balance of AMPZ in your account ;)

Once you choose the amount of AMPZ you want to use, click the “Boost” button and approve the Deso transaction that will likely pop up and you’re done! Zirkels will confirm that the transaction was successfully recorded on the blockchain and apply the corresponding boost to the article’s score.

Like I mentioned yesterday, you can easily see an article’s score in your Zirkels dashboard.

Finally, its important to note that each AMPZ corresponds to 100 points in the scoring algorithm and each AMPZ costs exactly 1 USD.

Another important thing to note, is that anyone can boost an article on Zirkels! The very same lightening bolt button that’s on the user dashboard is also available on every article page near the reward button.

How do I get AMPZ?

There are two easy ways to get AMPZ on Zirkels.

First of all, use the reward button!

Every time you send someone a reward on Zirkels, we automatically send you back some AMPZ!! Right now, during the launch, Zirkels is matching 100% of its Zirkels royalties in AMPZ.

So, for example, if you are on a free account and you give someone a $1 reward, Zirkels takes a $0.10 USD royalty and at the same time sends you 0.10 AMPZ back to your wallet!

Fancy that, you might already have AMPZ in your wallet without noticing! To see your current AMPZ balance just go over to your Zirkels dashboard and click on the AMPZ tab inside your wallet section.

That’s also where you need to go if you need more AMPZ.

On that exact page you will see a Buy AMPZ button that you can use to purchase more AMPZ for your account.

You can purchase with both $DESO and with USD using your credit card. What could be simpler?

On launch day, a user questioned whether AMPZ were just another Google or Facebook type ploy to generate advertising revenue.

This just isn’t the case.

The overwhelming power of the Zirkels article scoring algorithm combined with the limit on boosting articles means that AMPZ will be used for a specific purpose - to jump start new content so it gets a fair chance at attracting user engagement.

Will Zirkels make some money off of AMPZ? Yes, of course.

We’ve spent months working to build Zirkels and all the costs came directly out of our own pocket. No VC funding. No octane fund. Nothing but pure sweat, dedication and desire to turn the whole concept of blogging upside down.

Of course we want to recover our investment and maybe even earn a profit, but that does not mean that AMPZ can be used to nefariously skew the scoring algorithm.

As a community we’ll all be watching how the article scoring algorithm holds up and if adjustments need to be made, we’ll be right here explaining them in the open!

What does the future of AMPZ hold?

The future of AMPZ does not end here, though.

Not only are AMPZ useful today, but as we move through our roadmap of features, they will become even more so. We plan to use AMPZ to add friction to processes that might entice spammers as well as to power all new functionalities.

As an example, AMPZ will play a role in the upcoming “protected content” features that we’re building. We want Zirkels to be a place where most of the content is available for free, but we also want to give our writers tools so that they can leverage Zirkels to create life-changing, sustainable revenue streams.

AMPZ will play a role in balancing out these two competing interests.

And finally, AMPZ will also start being useful in other projects we’re working on.

Of course, if I revealed those secrets today, I’d have to kill you afterwards, and that would be really bad publicity, don’t you think?
