Good to know: Blogs offer a variety of perks over free accounts. Even if you're an independent creator with no affiliation to a publication site, you may still want to consider creating your own blog.
Creating a blog on zirkels is really simple.
The first thing you have to do is sign up for a plan. You can either pay monthly or annually (saving up to 20%).
Here's a variety of perks that you get by owning your own blog on zirkels.
Your own branded blog page with your own social feed on it
Early access to new features
500 free AMPZ/month to boost your articles
Transaction fees as low as 3%
Ability to create content vaults
Ability to get verified
Once you sign up for a plan, you'll be automatically redirected to your dashboard.
If you hadn't already done so, you'll first have to create or link a deso wallet to your account.
Head over to your account tab inside your wallet.
Then, click on the my blogs tab and hit on the add new blog button.
Upon creating a new blog you will automatically be prompted to enter your blog details.
First things first...
Enter your blog name, description and upload a profile image for your blog.
You'll then have to connect your blog to an actual deso profile by entering a deso username and a deso public key. Be sure to type in your public key correctly, this is where your rewards will get sent to.
Your blog has to belong to a wiki. Select the one that best matches your niche.
Blog category
You can also link your blog to two different tag categories.
As a blog owner, you can invite other content creatores to work for you. The author royalty indicates what percentage of the rewards your blog earns gets automatically sent to the author of the article for which you've received a particular reward. Make it decent, you want to keep your employees happy!
Creator coin royalty
Just like you can give a cut of the rewards you've earned to the authors writing for you, you can do the same exact thing with your creator coin holders.
The creator coin royalty allows you to give a cut of the rewards earned through your blog back to your creator coin holders. This incentives people to buy into your creator coin. It works just like a dividend.
This one is important! Be sure to add in a slug for your blog otherwise the URL to visit it will just be made up of a random selectiong of characters. Zirkels' blog slug is zirkels and the end result is:
zirkels.com/blog/zirkels
Blogs have a unique feature over free accounts because they allow blog owners to include a social feed on their blog page.
A social feed is a great way of having people engage with one another directly on your blog page. You can chose to display one or not.
On zirkels we give blog owners the option of posting either a post excerpt to the blockchain or the entire length of the article that they're trying to publish.
There are limits as to how much content you can post to the blockchain per unique transaction.
Unfortunately, there is a limit as to how much data you can store on deso per blockchain transaction. While there isn't an exact word amount that we can refer to, we've found that most articles tend to crash transactions when they're over 3000 words long.
